Time management

Postby houdi on Thu Apr 24, 2008 9:47 pm

I'm so impressed that both you and Penn find the time to do and produce so much.

You write and host BS, write books, theatre plays, essays, articles, etc besides your Vegas show that is always changing.
How can you be so productive? Where do you find the time?
What is the secret of time management the P&T style?
What is your best advice on time management?

Curious how a normal day looks for you (and one busy day) from the time you wake up, past your show and when you go to sleep.

Yesterday I got up at 9.
I did a quick round of email. I showered.
I helped unload groceries and ate a small turkey burger.
From 10:15-11:15 I worked out with a trainer.
I drove to my office/workshop.
From 11:45 - 12:15 I inspected the progress of a prop.
From 12:15 - 12:30 I drove to my haircut.
From 12:30 - 1:15 I had a haircut and ate lunch.
I drove home (picking up the dry cleaning) and from 1:45-5:00 worked with Michael Goudeau on the second draft of a "Bullshit" script for this season.
From 5:00-8:00 I ate dinner, pre-prepared breakfast for tomorrow, and watched a movie.
8-8:30 drove to the theater.
8:30 - 8:45 reviewed email.
8:45-9:00 dressed for show.
9:00 - 10:30 did the show.
10:30 - 11:15 did email and talked with a friend.
11:15 - midnight, rehearsed ball trick in the empty theater.
12:00- 12:45 drove home (got caught at the train tracks).
12:45 - 2:00 did bedtime stuff (final email, web search for a prop, took bath, wrote notes)
2:00 - went to sleep.

Days vary. The next two weeks will be nuts. Tomorrow night I'll fly a red-eye to NY to do Letterman. I'll be back on Wednesday, then on Thursday go straight into three days where I shoot BS all day 10-6 then go do my show in the evening. Once BS is in the can, things calm down a little, and I'll even get a five-day break at a cabin in Utah towards the end of the month.

wow that is a long day so I guess you are saying day's vary you do anything to get work done. Is that what you are say? Just wondering because I am struggling to manage my own time. Thanks if you can answer my question.
sincerely
